THOMASVILLE JAYCEE SCHOLARSHIP

  

Rules and Requirements

 

I.          Eligibility requirements for applicants.

a. Application submitted to a
North Carolina college or university of choice.
b. Good character.
c. Participation in extra-curricular activities (school and community) demonstrating leadership abilities.
d. Financial need.
e. All active (voting) members of the Thomasville Jaycees and their families are ineligible.

II.         Data to be submitted.

a. Application
b. Transcript (including first semester senior grades).
c. SAT score or ACT composite score.
d. Two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a teacher. The second letter should deal specifically with special interest and activities outside of school. Additional letters may be submitted.

e. Letters from applicant stating his/her plans, career goal, and reasons for wanting this scholarship.

III.       Information on the scholarship recipient’s obligations.

a. Recipient can receive another scholarship for the time covered by this scholarship; however, should a full scholarship be received, the recipient must notify the Thomasville Jaycees Scholarship Committee and relinquish this scholarship.
b. In the event the recipient decides to attend a college or university outside
North Carolina, the recipient will be ineligible for this scholarship.
c. If the recipient withdraws from school during the freshman year, the recipient must notify the Thomasville Jaycees Scholarship Committee of the decision, and any monies remaining in his/her scholarship fund will be forfeited.
d. In the event the initial recipient withdraws during the first semester, the runner-up or first alternate will become the recipient and will receive the remaining portions of the scholarship.
e. All payments of scholarship funds shall be paid directly to the college or university as needed, by proof of monies due by the institution or by reimbursements of previous payments through proof of said payments.
